Will You be READY for The Holidays?

Holiday stress~ both the good stress of fun filled events, traditions and time with family & the bad stress of going here and there, trying to fit it all in and getting it ‘all right’ is a fact.  Halloween has come and gone and the holidays are just around the corner.  The best way to keep the holidays happy and healthy and as stress free as possible is to plan and prepare for it.

Some simple ways to do this are:

  • Set Your Priorities, Make A Plan & Get an Early Start ~  There are 21 days till Thanksgiving & 51 days till Christmas Eve.  How do you want to spend the holidays with lots of guest and parties or do you want a quieter season? Knowing what you want for yourself and your loved one’s will have a great impact on your plans. Once you know what you want, create a plan, find the time for the baking and shopping, and plan with family and friends. It becomes much easier if you have a map

  • Learn to say NO~ to the extras that come your way. Again, know what outcomes you want for your season and then it will be easier to say “no” to a request if it does not align with what you want.

  • Take Care of Yourself ~ this is not the time to let self-care go! Stick with the program you’ve created for yourself. If you don’t have one, implement two or three things that you can do NOW to stave off the stress of the holidays. Plan it now! Some suggestions include:

Continue to drink plenty of water
Get plenty of rest
Don’t allow your caffeine or alcohol consumption to creep up
Go for a Walk or take a Yoga class
Get a Massage or any type of bodywork that helps strengthen the immune system and relax overused muscles, lessens headaches, anxiety and depression

  • Build into your holiday plan Time for Relaxation & healing ~ create a time during each day where you can slow down and reassess your progress and plan. Then, take a deep breath, quiet your mind or meditate and then move toward the season with Joy & Simplicity

Don’t let the stress of the upcoming season outweigh the joy you want to experience. Combat this with a plan and self-care. If you take the time to care for yourself, you will minimize the affects of stress. You will improve your phyaical and emotional well-being and be happier in the moment! And, isn’t that what we all want? To be happy in the moments we share with our family and friends in the upcoming season .
